Jose Huerta, III, age 62, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 in Acuna, Coahuila, Mexico. He was born on January 9, 1958. Retired CAPT Jose Huerta III of Del Rio, TX (62) passed away Tuesday at his home. He spent 30 years in service to the state of Texas as a corrections officer. Working for 10+ years as a Val Verde County jail officer and 20+ years with the Texas Department of Corrections. He loved the Cowboys, Longhorns, Tejano music, old westerns and was an expert Custom Cabinet Craftsman. He is survived; by his wife Eva Maria Saldaña; His 4 sons, 1 Daughter and their spouses, Jose and Megan Huerta, Jesus Carlos Huerta, Carl & Teresa Huerta, Brett Michael Huerta, and Nailea Lizzeth Cervantes Saucedo. His 9 grandchildren: Luis Andres Huerta, Ana Maria Huerta, Jeison Manuel Huerta, Alexander Borrayo, Darien Borrayo, Autumn Emi Huerta, Joaquín Eli Palomo Cervantes, Ian Emmanuel Palomo Cervantes, & Megan Ayli Palomo Cervantes. He is survived by his mother, Maria Huerta of Del Rio, TX, and 8 Siblings and their spouses. Tom & Janie Samarripa, Steve & Hilda Jewell, Martin & Terri Reyes, Pedro Huerta, Gilberto & Kim Huerta, Leonardo & Debbie Huerta, Adolfo Huerta, and Henry & Carmen Bautista. He is also survived by Brother-in-Law, Nabor Coronado, and sister in law Leticia Garcia, and 2 Cowboys teams worth of nephews and nieces, and special sister Erika Huerta. He is preceded in death by his father, Jose Huerta Jr, sister Mary Coronado and brothers Roberto Huerta and Joe Luis Huerta. Please send condolences to Sunset Funeral Home in Del Rio.
