Obituary

On July 9th, 2025, John Manuel Delgado, left this Earth to join our Heavenly Father and his loving wife, Celestina. John was born in Monterrey, Mexico, on October 11th, 1943, to his mother Guadalupe M. Delgado and his father Juan C. Delgado. At a young age, his family moved back to Texas in 1945 where he and his family resided in Austin. He would always share the memory of working alongside his father, who owned a small shoe repair shop. John worked towards getting his education and worked many jobs of different trades.John eventually made it to New Braunfels later in his years, where he met his wife Celestina S. Delgado, in 1973. They met at Hungry Hobo, where Sally (Celestina) worked as a cook and John was a meat delivery driver. Together they spent their life of loving matrimony for over 45 years.In 2000, John started working at the Tree of Life church. He worked for the church for over 10 years. He retired, but during his time at Tree of Life church, he found his faith in Jesus Christ. He was devoted to his family and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. John loved praying for others. He loved visiting with his family, friends and people of the community. He enjoyed drinking coffee late at night while listening to Christian music.He loved going on road-trips around the area and sharing stories of his child and adult life. He was a big fan of watching the Texas Longhorns on Saturdays, and watching the San Antonio Spurs in the playoffs. He also loved watching the Dallas Cowboys on prime time. His favorite TV shows were old westerns and Perry Mason. He is survived by his sons; Carlos, John, Ricky Rene, and Virgil, daughter; Sarah Delgado Banda and Step Daughter; Rita S. Delgado.Grandchildren; Carlos Steven, Gabrielle Amanda, Anthony, Michael and Erica Dawn. Great grandchildren; Isaiah Lee McGuire and Devonte Reginald McKenzie.Sisters; Patsy Medina and Guadalupe Tomasson.John was preceded in death by his brothers; Robert H., Joe Noa H. and David, also his sisters; Ella Mendoza, Ruth Ponce, Rosalinda Guerrero and Irene Zapata. His beloved nephew Mark Antonio Vasquez, who was like another son. Mark Antonio lived with the Delgado family for thirty years and was dearly loved. John will always be known as a caring husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. His love for everyone will truly be missed. May he rest in our Lord's heavenly peace.
