JOELLEN WILKINS SMITH KELLEY Beloved Wife, Mother, and Friend
JoEllen Wilkins Smith Kelley passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, at the age of 84. She was born on August 4, 1940, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Richard and Pauline Wilkins. A proud resident of Utopia, Texas, she was a devoted member of Utopia Baptist Church. Throughout her life, she lived in both Texas and Tennessee, raising her family while working as a schoolteacher and nurse.
On April 22, 1956, she married the love of her life, Raymond "Nick" Smith, and together they raised four children: Debbie, MerriJo, Richard, and Jenny until his death in 1992.
In September 2, 1995, She married Victor Kelley of Devine and spend 26 wonderful years until his death and she moved to New Braunfels to be closer to her family. She was a member of several clubs and served on boards in her home churches over the years. She will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her children: Deborah Smith Atkins (Mike), MerriJo Smith Johnson, Richard Kire Smith (Margaret), and Jenny Jo Smith Callison (Justin); her brother Roger Wilkins (Sandy); her stepchildren; Lynette Kelley Krueger (John), Samuel Kelley (Tammie)and her cherished grandchildren: Kalib Batdorf, Jordan Batdorf, Hunter Atkins (Ally), Tanner Atkins, Raven Spencer, Autumn Childers, and Lance Callison.
JoEllen was a dedicated homemaker, schoolteacher, pastor's wife, and nurse. She lived a life full of faith, kindness, and love for her family.
A graveside service will be held at Vanderpool Cemetery in Vanderpool, Texas, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 1:00 PM.
