Joel Phillip Farrar (Phil) went to his heavenly home on October 12, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was born on May 19, 1943 in El Dorado, Arkansas to Clyde La Velle Farrar, Sr. and Zada (Trull) Farrar.

Phil grew up in Dubach, Louisiana where he became an Eagle Scout and developed a love for music while playing trumpet in the high school band. After high school he continued his love for music in the Louisiana Tech band where he served as drum major. As an adult, Phil moved to Texas City and became an active member of the community where he was a member of the Jaycees, Kiwanis Club, a Boy Scout leader, and sang in the church choir. Phil worked in the Insurance industry, but his favorite job was his 50-year career as a football referee, working with his crew calling football games throughout south Texas.

While in Texas City, Phil met and married his soul mate Margaret June Farrar on July 27, 1985. Phil and June moved to Bulverde, Texas in 2002. Phil was a devout Christian and used his music background to lead music most of his adult life at various churches. Phil and June became charter members of Rebecca Creek Baptist Church and most recently lived at Oak Tree Assisted Living, celebrating 40 years of marriage before his passing.

Phil is preceded in death by his parents Clyde Sr. and Zada and brother Clyde Farrar Jr. He is survived by his wife June Farrar, daughter Kim (Randy) Menefee of Pflugerville, son Chris (Gretchen) Farrar of Bryan, son Ken (Ceci) Kirkpatrick of Canyon Lake and daughter Gena (David) Marshall of Spring Branch. His 6 grand-kids, Haley, Caleb, Kenneth, Meghan, Ashley, Matthew, and 5 great-grand kids will never see an Oreo cookie without remembering the fun they had "searching" granddaddy's office to find them.
