Jo Beth Fawcett, Granny Jo to many, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 in Del Rio, Texas. A striking beauty who delighted in bringing joy to others, Jo Beth is remembered as a witty and gracious hostess who sang like an angel, was a patron of the arts (particularly stage performances), loved to travel, swim, play bridge entertain her grandchildren and embrace life to its fullest. Born on September 25, 1925 in Carrizo Springs, Texas to Charles Fritz and Jennie Palm. Jo Beth was raised by Mrs. Robbie Palm after Jennie passed away when Jo Beth was a young child. Jo Beth graduated from Jefferson High School in San Antonio, Texas. In 1946, she graduated from Santa Rosa School of Nursing in San Antonio, was a cadet nurse in the U.S. Nursing Corps and worked at the Del Rio Hospital where she met rancher Walter Fawcett. They married in 1949 and the young bride made Del Rio her permanent home. Several weeks ago, Jo Beth celebrated her 96th birthday with family and friends who were blessed to share her day reminiscing and watching football. Jo Beth was predeceased by her parents Charles Fritz and Robbie Palm and her mother, Jennie Gardner Palm; her husband Walter Robert Fawcett; her sister Helen Jeanine Ruby and great-great-granddaughter Hope Michelle Wilkens. Jo Beth is survived by her brother Charles F. Palm; her children, Robert Fawcett (Sallie), Sara Winters (David), and Bill Fawcett (Cynthia). Left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren: Walt Fawcett (Michelle), April Fawcett (Jason), Perry Bradshaw (Justine), Christin McDonald (Pat), Tommy Winters, Carter Winters (Sandy), Tempe Winters, Will Fawcett (Kasey) and K.C. Fawcett. Jo Beth is survived by numerous great-grandchildren: Britini Wilkens (Matt), Brook Fawcett, Blake Bell (Ian), Gerald Fawcett (Maddy), Tyler Bradshaw, Hannah Bradshaw, Will Bradshaw, Charlie McDonald, Claire Elizabeth McDonald, Sara Catherine McDonald, Cullen Lee Fawcett and twins Charlee Jo and Reese Anne Fawcett, Tiffany Wilkins (Mathew), Thomas Winters, Isabelle Anne Hadden, Madison Perkins and McKenzie Perkins. Her legacy includes her numerous great-great-grandchildren: Hunter, Hallie and Holt Wilkens; Mckenna Bell; Graham Fawcett. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that you honor Jo Beth by donating to St. James Episcopal Church, 206 W. Greenwood St., Del Rio, Texas, or any organization that reflects her love of children, animals, stage performances, singing, swimming or bringing joy to humanity. A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, October 25, 2021 at 9 a.m. at Westlawn Cemetery followed by a memorial service at St. James Episcopal Church at 10:30 a.m. No visitation is scheduled.
