Jewel M. Benson July 19, 1929 April 1, 2007 Jewel (Joya) Mae Benson, age 77, entered into rest April 1, 2007 in Del Rio, Texas. She was born July 19, 1929 in Del Rio, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Betty Miller Smith, Henry Smith, two sisters, Ella Mae Anderson, Pearl Smith, two brothers, Lonnie (Buddy) Smith, Ernest (Pumpkin) Smith, a son, James Charles Benson. Left to Cherish her memory are her two daughters, Vivian L. Benson of Del Rio, Texas, Cynthia A. Benson of Tucson, AZ. Two sons: David H. Benson of Del Rio, Texas, Dennis R. Benson and wife Marsha Benson of San Antonio, Texas. Also left to cherish her are 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. A host of relatives and friends. Jewel was employed with the SFDRCISD for 24 years, also, she was one of the founders of the Juneteenth Committee where she faithfully worked until her health wouldn"�t allow her to anymore. She was a long time member of the Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church. Visitation will be held Friday April 6, 2007 from 5:00PM -9:00PM. at 7:00PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, Chapel of Remembrance. Services will be held Saturday April 7, 2007 at 3:00 PM in Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
