Obituary

Jerry Ruth Stone was called to heaven on August 11, 2024. She passed peacefully in her own home knowing that she was surrounded by love and family. Jerry was born in Del Rio, Texas on February 13, 1927 to parents John and Alice McDonald. After graduating from Del Rio High School, she married Don Stone and spent most of her life running the household with 3 children to keep her busy: Norman, Becky and Gary. She was a talented artist and was featured in "Artists of Texas" and was honored to have one of her paintings placed in the home of former governor, Dolph Briscoe. Jerry loved to teach and had many devoted students who studied both oils and watercolor under her tutelage.

After a life time of moving around the state of Texas, Jerry returned to her hometown of Del Rio where she spent her time volunteering at the Methodist Church, the hospital, and the Hospice Bargain Box. When she was 90 years of age, she was still active sewing bibs and walker pouches for the nursing homes.

Jerry is preceded in death by her parents, her sister JoAlice Wehner, son Gary Wayne Stone and grandson Jon Stone.

She is survived by her son Norman Stone (Anthem, AZ), daughter Becky Stone (Del Rio), son-in-law Stephen Turner (Del Rio), sister Norma Lowry (Del Rio), nieces Susan Newsome (Del Rio), Kay Lowe (Horseshoe Bay), Diane Weigle (Boerne), and Molly Marks (Houston) , nephew Arthur Lee (Skip) Wehner (Boise, ID), granddaughters Kayla Henniger (Bartlesville, OK) and Michelle Church (Berrien Springs, MI), great grand daughter Hannah Church and great grandson Ethan Church.

The family would like to extend the greatest of appreciation to Jerry's caregiver of the past 4 years, Margarita Ochoa for her unfaltering, expert care and to Axiom Hospice.
