Janie Rankin Fuentes, age 55, entered into rest Sunday, January 15, 2017, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born May 9, 1961. She was preceded in death by her brother Dagoberto Perez, her stepfather, Robert Rankin & maternal grandfather, Trinidad Perez. Janie married Ralph Fuentes on Feb. 18, 2001 and they settled in Brackettville, Texas, where she managed the Brackettville Senior Apartments until her illness caused her to step down. Janie was also a licensed cosmetologist and worked as a hairstylist for many years. She enjoyed making a variety of crafts and will be remembered by many for her generosity. She enjoyed sharing many of her crafts, especially her beautiful flower pens. She loved her family and her spiritual brotherhood dearly and their dog Gracie. Janie fought a tough battle with mantle cell lymphoma and never lost hope. Her faith gave her much comfort in the end, knowing she will be reunited with her family in paradise. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Ralph A. Fuentes; her mother Juanita Rankin; brother David Perez; sisters Martha Rankin, Frances Skipworth (Tony), Lisa Friedl (Spencer) & Paula Rankin; her maternal grandmother Lupita Perez, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and her spiritual family. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 9:00am to 1:30pm at Brackettville Sunset Funeral Home. Chapel Service will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 1:30pm at Brackettville Sunset Funeral Home located at 302 Spring St., Brackettville, Texas. Interment to follow at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Cemetery.
