Obituary

James Ray Whitten (Jimmy) of Blanco, TX passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the age of 72. He was born in San Marcos, TX on December 12, 1951 to Everett and Bonnie Whitten. He was raised in the small town of Staples, TX and cherished small town, country living until his passing. Jimmy was a simple man who enjoyed a simple life. To him, happiness was slow drive down a country road, a cold beer with his wife or a friend, or a BBQ in the yard with friends and family. He took great pride in his work and in knowing that he treated his customers well and that they trusted him. He is missed by so many. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Amy Whitten, daughter Cheri Whitten, daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Robbie Judd, grandsons, Kyle and Bryce Judd, step-daughters, Ashlyn and Abby Nichols, Mom, Bonnie York, sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Clinton Brown, and step-sister Priscilla Speed, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his Father, Everett Whitten, baby boy, James Carey Whitten, sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Kenneth Chance, step-father, W.A. York (Grandy) and step-brother William York. The family will have a small, private, graveside service at a later date. If you wish to honor him, drink a LoneStar Light in memory of him!
