James Lewis
Smith
Mar 31, 1958 — Dec 17, 2025
James Lewis Smith, 67, of Stockton, California, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2025. He was born on March 31, 1958, to Roger Blaine Smith and the late Marion Smith. He is survived by his father, Roger, and his sister, Robyn Murphy.
As a young man, James discovered his passion for building. His career as a construction supervisor was marked by dedication, skill, and artistry. He took great pride in creating homes that were not only sturdy but beautiful, some of which were featured in Better Homes and Gardens Magazine. He also worked on many buildings through out Northern California and Grants Pass, OR. His work left a lasting mark on the communities he served and reflected his belief that a home should be a place of warmth and love.
James's greatest joy, however, was his family. He was married to the love of his life, Alice Francine Smith, with whom he shared decades of devotion, laughter, and unwavering companionship. Together, they built a life filled with love, resilience, and cherished memories, and raised two children, Summer Dawn Franklin and Joshua Kane Smith. He was also a loving father to his daughter from a previous marriage, Mandi Michelle Soulier.
A man of many passions, James found freedom and joy on the open road atop his beloved 1997 Harley Davidson Softail, his pride and joy. He also loved the thrill of riding dirt bikes, a hobby he enjoyed for many years.
He will be remembered for his kindness, his craftsmanship, and his deep commitment to those he loved. James leaves behind a legacy of hard work, beauty, and devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
