Irma Perez, of Del Rio, Texas joined the Lord, Wednesday, July 10, 2013 in San Antonio after a fight against cancer.
Born in Alpine, Texas, to Antonio and Alberta Sandate, Irma was an excellent athlete and a caring, outgoing person; she received her Bachelor of Science in 1978 from Sul Ross State University.
She took a position in teaching second grade in 1978 with the Del Rio school district where she taught until she retired in 2011. Irma was a GREAT wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend and animal lover. She always made sure that nothing was ever needed, whether it be for friends or family. She also had an infinite passion for animals--she took in the ill, the injured and the abandoned.
Irma is preceded in death by her father Antonio Sandate. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Jose �"Chale"� Perez; her daughter Marisa and son-in-law Daniel; her granddaughters Victoria and Andie; her mother Alberta Sandate; her sister Rose Mary Villareal and her husband Marcus and their son Marky; her brother Martin Sandate and his family; her nephew Martin �"Boy"� and wife Laura; David and her niece Selena; her sister-in-law Sandra and husband Bobby Rodriguez and their children Yvonne and Burt, Robbie, Jimmy, Aliyah, and Isaac; and her �"adopted"� daughters Myna, Nanette, Marisol, Ana, Nancy, Nena and Norma. She is also survived and cherished by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends from afar and near.
Pallbearers are Myna Salazar, Martin �"Boy"� Sandate, David Sandate, Mark Villareal, Marky Villareal, and Mario Reyna.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013, 3:00pm to 9:00p.m., Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00p.m.
Mass of Christian burial will held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 10:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.
Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
