Howard Theodore (Ted) Swint, age 75, of Del Rio, TX went home to be with our Lord on December 13, 2023 in San Antonio, TX.

Ted was born January 23,1948 in Uvalde, TX to the late Albert Theodore Swint and Ala Merle Woods Swint. He started working at a young age as a welder's helper to his father. He was a fullback for the Pettus High School football team and graduated from Pettus High School in 1966. He attended SWJC in Uvalde for a short time before enlisting in the military in 1967. He served in the Army National Guard through 1973 when he was honorably discharged. While serving in the military he was awarded a sharpshooter badge and received an ARCAM medal.

Ted worked in oilfield construction for a short time before starting his 40 year career for the Southern/Union Pacific Railroad. He started in maintenance, moved up to management, then an engine service fireman and finally as engineer from 1982 through his retirement in 2010.

Ted married Karen in June of 1979 and had one son in September of 1981. Together they ran a successful catering business for many years. They were both active members of the church where he served as a deacon and volunteered any chance they could get. Together Ted and Karen made many lasting friendships and contributed so much to their community. Ted also volunteered as a coach for his son's youth football team and his grandson's youth baseball teams. Ted cherished his family and would do anything to help out if and when needed.
