Homero Cadena Sigala June 2, 1927 April 16, 2013 Homero Cadena Sigala age 85, of Del Rio entered into rest on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. He was born June 2, 1927, in Del Rio to the late Guadalupe and Delfina Cadena Sigala. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He spent his life honoring first and foremost his family and the San Felipe community. He began his career as a teacher at Stephen F. Austin Elementary. He was then promoted to Federal Coordinator of the San Felipe Independent School District and then named Superintendent of Schools. After consolidation, he was named Deputy Superintendent of the San Felipe Del Rio Consolidated ISD and worked in collaboration with Mr. Bob Poole in the operation of the district. He was active as a member of the San Felipe Ex Students Association and had great affection for the schools and the community at large. He cared about the students that he taught, the people that he mentored and the city where he belonged. He seemed to thrive on the many friendships that he developed while in Del Rio and felt blessed by their care and concern for his well- being. Survivors include his daughter Blanca Sigala Valdez and husband David Lee Valdez of Victoria, Texas; two grandchildren John David Sigala Valdez and Michael Sigala Valdez of Austin, who were the center of his world. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Enedina Sanchez Sigala; brothers Ralph Sigala of Del Rio and Oscar Sigala of Houston. Gentlemen with the honor of Pallbearers will be posthumously his best friend Ignacio Hernandez and his family and the San Felipe Ex Students. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 18 2013 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary 7:00pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013 10:00, Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
