Guillermo �"Willie"� R. Serrano June 25, 1924 April 2, 2007 Guillermo �"Willie"� R. Serrano, age 81 entered into rest April 2, 2007 , in San Angelo, Texas. He was born June 25, 1924 in Del Rio, Texas. He served in the U. S. Army and was a veteran of World War II and was an American POW after the Battle of the Bulge. He was also the only surviving World War II, POW in Del Rio He also received Four Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart Medal. He was in basic training at Camp McCoy, Wisc and he transferred to Ft. Knox, Ky to become a combat engineer with Company B, 44th Engineer (C ) Regiment he was part of Gen. (Omar) Bradley"�s force. He was also a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars and Life long member of the American Legion Post #595. He was preceded in death by his parents Juan Serrano and Francisca Reyes Serrano, Son Ernesto P. Serrano and Brother Raul Reyes Serrano. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 60 years Oralia P. Serrano: Son"�s: Frank Perez and wife Lori, Guillermo R. Serrano, Sr, and wife Maria P., Juan M. Serrano, Leonel Serrano, Raul Serrano and wife Rosetta, David Serrano, Daughters: Sylvia Hosbrough and husband William, Hilda S. Garza and husband Jose Luis, Brothers: Trinidad Reyes Serrano and Steve Serrano. Also survived by 20-grandchildren and 17-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be: Guillermo Serrano, Juan Serrano, Leonel Serrano, Steve Serrano, Jose Luis Garza and Arturo Nava. Visitation was held Wednesday, April 4, 2007 5:00-9:00 PM, Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, April 5, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 2:00 P.M. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Ft. Sam Houston Honor Guard and American Legion Post #595.
