Gregorio Talamantez was a full time barber at Laughlin Air Force Base before opening his own business the "Talamantez Barbershop". He cut hair for 60 years; customers always had a pleasant conversation as their hair was cut.
Greg was a wonderful husband, loving father, grandfather, parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic church, a 4th degree Knight, American Legion member and loyal Marine. He served in the Marine Corp during the Korean War and continued his life to serve his family, community and above all God.
Gregorio was a quiet leader in the community. He was responsible for having the name of Avenue F changed to Veteran's Boulevard, he was very humble and his good deeds were always kept privately; he gave free haircuts, go to homes to provide haircuts to the sick and gave to those who needed help.
The funeral services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery. The viewing will be on Friday, May 10, 2024 with a rosary at 7:00 pm prayed by his Brothers of the Knights of Columbus. The funeral will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church followed with the interment at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery.
