Obituary

Gracia V. Zuniga, age 84, entered into rest on Saturday, February 1, 2025 in Del Rio, Texas. She was born on November 28, 1940.

She was preceded in death by Parents, Samuel and Angela Valadez , Husband Encarnacion (Chon) Zuniga, daughter Angelita Zuniga Valdez, sister Hermelinda Chavira, Son-in-law, John Calderon; and her granddaughter Gloria Jazmine Herrera.

She is survived by her Daughters: Angelita Valdez-(Esteban), Maria Elena Calderon-(John),  Antonia Salazar-(Eloy), Luz Herrera-(Gerald) and Sobeida Renteria-(Rafael); Sisters: Her twin Graciela Rush and Maria Magdalena Reyes; Grandchildren: Eloisa Valdez, Esteban Valdez Jr, Adriana Mendoza, Yvette Calderon, Yvonne Pete, Veronica Mojica, Lorena Martinez, John Calderon Jr, Rogelio Ruiz, Elizabeth (Daisy) Valadez, Alejandra, Ernestina, Simon Herrera, Bianca and Briana Renteria and several great grandkids.

Gracia came to know so many faces of the community working in retail for over 35 years, always smiled and treated her customers liked extended family. In her free time, she enjoyed watching her grandchildren play numerous sports, and cheered them on as their #1 fan. She was also a very proud supporter of the US Military, as her son in laws and grandchildren served and currently serving in the Army, Navy and Marine Corps. She will be missed most for her sewing skills, homemade tortillas, numerous dishes cooked from scratch and lemon meringue pies. Her home was always a place full of love and homemade cooked foods on the table. Her living room was full of pictures of loved ones that would take you hours to see them One by one. She loved going to the bingo, playing Loteria and Watching the Price is Right! She will be greatly missed!

Visitation will be held on Tuesday February 4, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday February 5, 2025 at 10:00 AM Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Pallbearers are Rafael Renteria, Sammy Reyes, Briana Renteria, Steve Valdez, Charlie Rush, Rogelio Ruiz, Simon Herrera, Yvonne Pete, Bianca Renteria, and Adriana Valdez-Mendoza.

Interment will follow at San Felipe Cemetery.

The Zuniga Family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Otazo's staff at the Hospital and to American Medical Hospice and Palliative Care! Dr. Veronica Cadena and Nurses Sierra and Nathaniel for their outstanding care for our mother/grandmother.
