Gloria G. Samaniego, age 88, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, July 10, 2026, in Brackettville, Texas. She was born on October 21, 1937, in Brackettville, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pablo and Juanita Garcia; her daughter, Maria Samaniego; and siblings Eloy, George, Joe, Irma, and Cecilia.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Placido Samaniego; her children Tony (Mary), Daniel (Paula), John (Nancy), Patty (Royce), Martha (Gilbert), Placido (Erika), and Sandra (Joseph); 19 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Gloria is also survived by siblings Ector (Yolanda), Elvia, Mario (Elisa), Maria (Enrique), Josie (Ruben), Eddie (Lydia), and Beatriz (Bea), along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will cherish her memory.
Gloria's life was defined by faith, family, and kindness — values she passed on to every generation she touched.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 301 N. Ann St. Brackettville, Texas.
The visitation will continue on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 8:30 AM, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 301 N. Ann St., Brackettville, Texas.
Pallbearers will be David Samaniego, Tony Martinez, Jannette Samaniego, Billy Robinson, Donavan Crowder, Diego Luna, Geramiah Samaniego, and Jeremy Samaniego. Honorary Pallbearers will be Erika Garcia, Jennifer Samaniego, Elda Terrazas, Sean Samaniego, JD Samaniego, Stephanie Williams, Christian Luna, Demetrick Crowder, Dukesa Casados, Ashleigh Rodriguez, Ava Martinez, Natasha Samaniego, Alyssa Martinez, Justin Ramirez, and Miah Samaniego.
The interment will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Cemetery, Brackettville, Texas.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Homes, Del Rio/Brackettville, Texas, (830) 778-2020. Serving families with dignity and respect.
