Gloria G. Jimenez finished her God-given mission on earth surrounded by her husband and daughter. She was called to her Heavenly home by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 11, 2021. A devoted Catholic, she was preceded in death by her parents Alfredo and Carrie Garcia, her sisters Enedina San Miguel and Amparo Hernandez, and is survived by her husband Hector and daughter Valerie (m. Anthony Peyer). After graduating as Salutatorian from Brackett High School in 1957, Gloria enjoyed many years in the world of work that included employment with the historic Nipper Drugstore, the First State Bank, and Brackett ISD. She retired from the school district after 19 years serving as the Migrant Program Coordinator—work that she loved with students and their parents whom she esteemed and cherished. In 1975, Gloria married the love of her life, Hector, and they celebrated their 46th anniversary this past June. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM; Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in Del Rio, Texas Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021, at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church located at 301 S. Ann St. in Brackettville, TX Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
