On Friday, December 6, 2024, George Michael Cabada passed peacefully at home into the loving arms of Our Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He brought warmth and brightness to the lives he touched, and his loss is deeply felt by family and friends. Born on July 16, 1930, in Havana, Cuba, to Domingo and Mirta Massey Cabada, George led a life filled with love, kindness, and steadfast devotion to his family and to the country. He was extremely proud of his 21-year service in the U.S. Air Force. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars and in countries such as Africa, Morrocco, Okinawa, England and Norway. While in the United States, he was stationed at several bases including The Pentagon, and at NORAD. He graduated from Sul Ross University with a B.A. and a M.ED. He earned doctoral hours from Texas A&M University as well. After his military retirement, he became a teacher, Vice Principal, and Principal in the Uvalde CISD for 26 years. He was a member of MENSA and retained his quest for knowledge and a passion for reading until the end of his life. George is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Ann, who shared his life for 42 years. He is also survived by daughters, Carol (Roy) Kothmann, Karen Knox, and step sons Jeff (Shannon) Moravits and Will (Rosie) Moravits; Grandchildren: Katie (Kason) Haby, Karla (Holden) Radicke, Ben Kothmann, Adam Kolinek, Erin (Bric) Walls, Linsey (Josh) Robles, George Moravits, James Moravits, and Ziva Moravits; great grandchildren: Maddox Smith, Pierce Radicke, Riley Radicke, Caise Radicke, Corbin Radicke, Kenedy Haby, Kollins Haby and Rinley Robles. He is also survived by his brother, Juaquin (Peggy) Matheu, sister Mirta Klauber, sister and brother-in-law Harry and Betty Lawrence along with nieces Molly (Ethan) Biter and Kelly (Chandler) Klauber Cloud, Cathryn (Rob) Di Prima, Jennifer (Hoyt) Hoffman and nephew Patrick (Andi) Matheu. He was preceded in death by his father, Domingo Cabada, and mother, Mirta Massey Matheu and the mother of his daughters, Turid Field Murray. George was a pillar of strength, offering support and guidance, spirituality and love to all who sought it. George's spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the memories of all who were blessed to know him. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, New Braunfels, Texas on December 27th at 10 A.M. George will have a graveside service and be buried with Military Honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, on January 6th at 2:30 P.M.
