Frances LaVerne Brennan Foster passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at the age of 88 in Del Rio, Texas. She was born in Dallas, Texas on December 11, 1937 to Manson Lee Brennan and Velma Frances Scott Brennan. She grew up in the Pleasant Mound community in East Dallas and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School where she was an avid ice skater. After graduating from high school, she developed a love of fashion working in Sanger Harris Department Store in Dallas. She was a very talented, self-taught seamstress.

LaVerne met the love of her life Jack Donald Foster at Pleasant Mound Baptist Church in Dallas. They were married in September 1956 in Dallas at the same church they met. An expert seamstress, LaVerne wore a wedding dress that she designed and made herself. They started their family in Dallas before moving to San Antonio, Uvalde and finally Del Rio in 1972. They purchased the Coors distributorship and ran it until Don's untimely death in 1976.

LaVerne was a long-time member of First Christian Church. She was active in Morning Glory Garden Club, hosting annual flower shows at her home. She belonged to the New Century Club for over 30 years. Her greatest love was traveling. She traveled the globe to places including Australia, Bahrain and extensively through Europe. She was a fabulous baker and famous for her chocolate pies. She was also an expert marksman, controlling the possum population in her backyard with her pellet gun.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack Donald Foster and her sister Carmen Virginia Brennan Humphreys. Left to cherish her memory are daughters Gigi Donice Foster Bowman and son-in-law Turner Bowman of San Antonio, Texas and Melloney Michelle Foster Cremmen of Magnolia, Texas and son-in-law Michael Cremmen of Dallas, TX. She cherished her seven grandchildren Foster Bowman (Jana), Brennan Bowman, Cara Bowman, Bridget Bowman, Jack Cremmen (Corrieanne), Casey Cremmen (Aryka) and Courtney Cremmen. She adored her five great grandchildren Fletcher, Scotty and Carter Bowman, Valor Williams and Thomas Michael Cremmen. Her nephew Randy Fleming (Janet) and daughter Leah of Paige, Texas, and niece Rynie Rynea Robertson (Terry) and daughter Tanya, of Muldoon, Texas held a special place in her heart.

The family is eternally grateful to Seferino Gomez and the staff at Southwest Assisted Living, the staff at Holy Savior Hospice and her pastors and dear friends John and Marsha Cary.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 2, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at the chapel at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, August 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with pastor John Cary officiating. A private family burial at the Masonic Cemetery will follow. Pall bearers are Turner Bowman, Michael Cremmen, Foster Bowman, Jack Cremmen, Casey Cremmen and Randy Fleming.
