On June 28, 2015, Deacon Mr. Filomeno , was received into his heavenly home at the age of 88. He was born in Del Rio, Texas on June 4, 1927.
Preceded in death by his parents Filomeno and Florinda Salazar, his daughters Juanita and Pura Salazar, his brothers Jose E Salazar and Elizardo A. Salazar. Left to cherish 57 years of his memory is his wife Pura C. Salazar, children: Manuel (Mary Alice) Salazar, Bastrop,TX, Marta Lucia(Martin)Garcia, San Antonio, TX, grandchildren: Ricardo Salazar, Cristina Marie (Zach) Tharp, Erika A. Salazar, Alejandro X. Salazar and Emmanuel M. Garcia, great granddaughter Novalie A Tharp, sister Florinda Cuellar, brother Manuel (Carmela) Salazar, numerous nieces and nephews.
On June 5, 2015, he celebrated his 32nd anniversary of serving our GOD and his community as a permanent Deacon for St. Joseph Church, Del Rio, Texas. Filomeno was a faithful servant of GOD, at the young age of 6 he started his journey with the church as an altar server with our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Del Rio, TX. As a man of God, he believed firmly in his Catholic faith, he had a life of prayer, he prayed the rosary not once, but 3 to 4 times a day, always petitioning the needs of his family and friends, even people he did not know, who were going through trying times. He supported the groups at church with prayer and always sat at the Church Hall waiting for his wife Pura to cook with the Guadalupanas, he working on his crossword puzzles that he enjoyed doing so much. Filomeno also served his country in the United States Army. He will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 5:00PM-9:00PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7:00PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Ft. Sam Houston Honor Guard and American Legion Post #595 will conduct Honors.
