Fidelio A. Vazquez, born on May 18, 1924, in Del Rio, TX has passed peacefully at home with his family in Del Rio on January 5, 2024 at the age of 99.

Fidelio is survived by his two children Tara Vazquez and Matthew Vazquez. Grandchildren Britny, Erin, Zackary, Matthew Jr, Daisy, Tyler, Hector, Hunter, Ethan and his great grandchildren Liam, Mia, Levi and Leo. He is also survived by his two younger brothers Mario (95) and Robert (93) Vazquez.

Fidelio graduated from San Felipe High School in 1943 was also a member of the band. He joined the United States Army in May of 1943 and trained at the army camp in Abilene Tx. He proudly served during WWII. He moved to San Jose California in March 1946 where he married his Highschool sweetheart Clementina Villareal on November 30, 1946. They lived in San Jose while he worked at the USPS and returned to Del Rio in 1985 after he retired. He was involved in the community and lifelong clubs including American GI Forum, U.S Postal Union, San Felipe Exes, UCO and Masons Lodge. "Tata" which was a name he was known as from all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved his family very much and was very involved in every aspect of their lives. Attended school functions, family gatherings and anything he could. He was happy, courageous, caring and a loving man. Tata always said a beer and a shot a tequila a day would keep him healthy and it did for 99 ½ years.
