It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Felis F. Ybarra Jr. on April 22, 2025, at the age of 80 in Del Rio, Texas. A cherished husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and devoted Airmen, Felis was born on August 28, 1944, in Mesa, Arizona. He proudly served 25 years in the United States Air Force, earning the distinction of a Vietnam veteran. Following his military service, Felis dedicated another 18 years to civil service, gaining the respect and admiration of all who knew him.
Felis was a loving husband to Rosie Salas Ybarra, his beloved wife of 49 years. As a father and grandfather, he stood as a pillar of strength and love, always prioritizing family in his life. His legacy of compassion and warmth will continue to inspire all who had the honor of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie; sons, Ramiro Luna (Janet), Osvaldo Luna (Carrie), Ruben Luna (Ofelia); daughter, Sally Ann Gomez (David Sr.); brother, Jesse Ybarra (Ruth), Johnny Ybarra; sisters, Manuela "Nellie" Ybarra Rodriguez, Maria Ybarra Castillo (Lupe), Erlinda Ybarra Swenhaugen; grandchildren, David Gomez Jr. (Priscilla), Vincent Luna, Obadiah Luna (Christen), Aaron Gomez (Anissa), Catherine Luna, Aaryanna Gomez, Shiloh Luna, Ruben James Luna, Noah Luna, Larissa Luna; and great-grandchildren, Uriah Gomez, Easton Gomez, and Ezrah Gomez. He also leaves behind many cherished nephews and nieces.
Felis was preceded in death by his parents, Felis Ybarra and Erlinda Ramirez; brothers, Tony Ybarra, Peter Ybarra and Frank Ybarra; brother-in-law, Lionel Rodriguez; and nephew, Joseph Rodriguez.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach, San Antonio, Texas.
