Esther V. Salazar July 19, 1914 March 17, 2012 Esther V. Salazar, age 97, entered into rest on March 17, 2012 in New Braunfels, Texas. She was born July 19, 1914 in Del Rio, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband Sigifredo Salazar, parents, Trinidad Vasquez and Carmen Guerra Vasquez. Daughters, Raquelita, Rachel, and Becky, Grandchildren, Ruben, Scott, Dorothy, Raul and Sheila, Gina Yvette. brothers, Federico, Manuel and Luis. Sisters, Herlinda, Josefa, Carolina and Maria. Mrs. Salazar was a graduate of the second graduating class of San Felipe High School in 1933. She was the valedictorian of her class. After her marriage to Sigifredo, she attended beauty school in San Antonio. After she return to Del Rio, she became the proud owner of San Felipe Beauty Shop, which she operated for the next twelve years.After she closed her shop she became a sales clerk in the shoe department at J.C. Penney. Her last ten years of employment were with the migrant program in the SFDRCISD, retiring at the age of 80.Mrs Salazar was a very devoted mother, participating in Parent Teacher Association and the band boosters Club throughout the years that her children were in school.She served as an officer of the PTA at different times, as well as president of the Band Boosters and of the Teachers Day Committee. Mrs. Salazar was raised be her sister and brother-in-law, Herlinda and Tiburcio Salazar after her mother died. Throughout her life she remained very close to her nieces and nephews and considered them her siblings. Mrs. Salazar lived a very long, productive and happy life with her entire family. She will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memory are her Sons, Ruben Salazar and wife Ninfa, Ramiro Salazar, Daughters, Romelia Rodriguez and Husband Joe, Rose Yuman, Tina Trujillo, Grandchildren Roxanne Robles and husband Carlos, Marisa Rendon, Carla Wherry and Husband Neal, Ninfa Cruz and husband Michael, Louis Salazar, Michael Quintanar, Adrian Quintanar, Norma Hernandez and husband Jessie, Joe Rodriguez Jr and wife Sandra, Cora Soto, Louis Garcia and wife Annette, Dean J. Trujillo, Monica Salazar, 28- great-grandchildren and 14-Great-Great Grandchildren . Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Gentlemen with the honor of Pallbearers, Pedro Soto III, Brian Soto, Michael Cruz, Louis Salazar, Adrian Quintanar, and Louie Cardwell, II. Honorary Pallbearers, Jose A. Rodriguez, Joe Rodriguez Jr, Joel Hernandez, Brandon Rendon , Dylan Camerer, Jay Wherry, Ben Wherry, Carlos Rendon, Michael Quintanar, and Louis Garcia. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, Chapel of Remembrance. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment to follow at San Felipe Cemetery.
