Maria Ester (Esther) Mendeke, age 98, entered into rest on Sunday, October 11, 2015 in Uvalde, Texas. She was born on October 8, 1917 in Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years and 5 months William Mendeke and her nephew Ricky Davis. She is survived by her son Norman Mendeke and wife Marie of Pflugerville, TX, her daughters Katherine Davis of Eagle Pass, TX and Cordelia Mendeke of Brackettville, TX and Adopted in heart, daughter Lucille Fuentes of Brackettville, TX , 2 Grandsons, 4 Granddaughters, 12 Great-Grandchildren, 6 Great-Great-Grandchildren and 2 sister in laws Santos Munoz of Brackettville and Kris Mendeke of Uvalde, TX. Plus, numerous nephews & nieces Esther's world revolved around her Catholic faith, husband, family. She looked so forward to holidays when the family would get together. A lot of work for her baking and cooking but she was happy with her family all gathered. She was a member of the Alter Society for many years. Other fond members were her Bunko Club friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home in Brackettville, TX. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary's Magdalene Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Kinney County Cemetery
