Elvira G. Castaño, of Del Rio, Texas passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas. She was a devout Christian and dedicated nurse of over 30 years known for her unwavering compassion, skill and she touched countless lives, bringing comfort to her patients. She was born to Anita Rivera Cerna.

Elvira was preceded in death by her mother, Anita R. Cerna, her sister, Ernestina Cirilo, and beloved daughter, Esther Castaño Talavera.

She is survived by her son, Marcos Gonzalez, of San Antonio/Del Rio, Texas, and daughter, Azaneth G. Rodriguez of Harlingen, Texas. Elvira also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM; prayer service at 6:30 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 2020 N. Bedell Ave, Del Rio, Texas.

The visitation continues on her birthday, Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM with a chapel service at 12:00 PM,at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 2020 N. Bedell Ave, Del Rio, Texas.

The entombment will be held at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 5144 Hwy 90 East, Del Rio, Texas.
