Eluterio "Speedy" Gonzalez was called to his Heavenly home by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 26, 2021. Speedy was born on December 3, 1944, in Alice, Texas to Eluterio Gonzalez, Sr., and Olivia Gonzalez Godines. Speedy graduated from Alice High School, Alice, Texas in 1963. Following his graduation from high school, Speedy served in the United States Air Force from 1963 – 1967. After his 4 years in the U.S. Air Force, Speedy transitioned into a job with the Civil Service in 1967 at Laughlin Air Force Base. He always had a love for Music and is shared passionately with his daughter. During her preteen/teen years Speedy became a DJ for private parties/events, and was well known around the community and the LAFB for his sweet vinyl record sounds. Speedy retired from the Civil Service after 36 years of hard work and loyal service. He learned the value of hard work and industry at a very young age. After the 36 years with Civil Service, Speedy became the owner/operator of Rainbow International Carpet Cleaning and Restoration. As the owner/operator, he worked diligently to build a business that exemplified 100% client satisfaction and formed many, many close relationships. After 10 years, he sold the business and was finally able to enjoy his favorite pastimes at Lake Amistad – jet skiing and boating. Speedy's passions included his family, his friends, and his "old" clients. He never met a stranger. If Speedy had ever met you, he was always quick to greet you with a warm and sincere smile. Georgie and Gilda were Speedy's grandchildren and the light of his life. He took great pleasure and delight in watching his grandchildren grow and develop their own special talents and skills. Grandpa Speedy never missed a football, basketball, baseball, soccer game, or any of Gilda's dance performances. Speedy was preceded in death by his parents, Eluterio Gonzalez, Sr., mother, Olivia Gonzalez Godines, and step-father Epifanio Godines. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Roxana Liñan and her husband George Liñan, grandchildren Georgie and Gilda Liñan, sister, Estella Godines Mead/Richard, brother, Frank Godines/Lydia, nephew Jonathan Cavazos, niece Mayra Robles Treviño/Rigo Treviño, and nephew, Segundo Guajardo, III. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 1st, 2021, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 2nd, 2021, at 12:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Chapel and Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Gentlemen with the Honor of Pallbearers are: Frank Godines, Jonathan Cavazos, Georgie Liñan, Clay Cowan, Pete Cervantez, and Mark Liñan. Honorary Pallbearers include: Richard Mead, Rigo Treviño, Segundo Guajardo III, Joe Liñan, and Joe Richarte. A special thank you to all his medical angels. He will forever be missed but never forgotten.
