Obituary

Elizabeth Mae (Bette) Herrington completed her earthly journey on September 3, 2025 and went to her glorious forever home to be with her Father.

She was born to Russell M. and Ida Mae Sweet on August 26, 1930 in Del Rio, Texas. She lived in Comstock until moving to Del Rio for her senior year in high school.

Shortly after graduating from high school, Bette married D.A Herrington, Jr. Together they had two children, Larry Paige Herrington (Fern) and Carole Ann Mitchell (Paul). They had one grandson, David Andrew Mitchell (Aracely) and three great grandsons, Herrington Ray, William Andrew and Elliot Cruz.

Bette was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving as deacon and elder. She sang in the choir for many years and worked with Meals on Wheels.

A lady of many talents, she was known for her gardening, needlework and crafting. She also spent many hours on the golf course.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sisters and brothers, Maureen Postell, Daisy Howard, Russell Sweet and Boye Sweet, and her niece Mattalee Davis. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone at Southwest Assisted Living and Holy Savior Hospice. Their loving kindness over the past five years has made this time so special. It wouldn't have been the same without them.

No services are planned at this time.
