Elizabeth "Liz" Elizalde, age 56, of Del Rio, Texas, passed away on August 24, 2024. Dated and Married Miguel Angel Calderon for over 16 years and served and cherished her Stepchildren Angelica Myrella and Miguel Angel II. She was preceded in death by her Father Armando Elizalde and Mother, María De La Luz Frausto Molina and her stepfather Pedro Molina. She is survived by her four brothers: Lenin, Jorge Vladimir (Jessica), Ivan (Jeanette), and Lovel (Jamie).

Liz is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, who lovingly knew her as "Mousey-Mousey": Ivorie (Rob), Isaac, Ileana Jade, Jacob, Adriana, Austin, Alesia, Amanda, Andrea, Erin, Emily, and Lucas.

She also cherished her time with her husband's family, Guillermo Calderon IV (Maribel), Richard (Olga), George (Pina) and all the nephews and nieces who always called her Aunt Liz. A special spot in her heart was when the family band (Family Jewelz) would play Chicken Fried for her at every gig she attended.

Liz graduated from Del Rio High School in1986 and furthered her education at St. Edward's University, earning a BA in Behavioral & Social Sciences. She later attended Midland College-Long Term Care Administration, obtaining a master's Certification as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator.

Her career was marked by her passion and dedication to helping others, including young people, the elderly, and those in need. She was a true servant leader in the community and boy did she love her Dallas Cowboys, especially Troy Aikman!

She faithfully served the citizens of Del Rio as Councilwoman for District III and Mayor Pro-tem. Liz was actively involved in numerous community organizations, such as the Del Rio Rotary Club, Joint Committee for Animal Welfare, Del Rio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Del Rio Boys & Girls Club, Wings over Acuna Missionary Group, Del Rio Little League Softball, and the Flood 1998 Unmet Needs Committee.

Liz saw no difference between her immediate and extended family, forming equally strong bonds with cousins and aunts/uncles. She also cherished her friendships, treating friends like family. Despite the effort required to maintain relationships, she made it look easy. There is beauty and significance in her enduring friendships. Her favorite motto was "Si Se Puede!"

The visitation will be held on Monday, September 2, 2024 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.

The mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

The interment will follow at San Felipe Cemetery.
