Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Father, Elieser Hernandez Jr., aka "Chicho Jr."at the age of 64 on March 5, 2025. He passed away peacefully in his sleep.

Elieser Hernandez Jr. was born on April 10, 1960, in Del Rio, Texas. He grew up in San Felipe, where he was an active member of the Catholic Church and community. He enjoyed watching a good football game on TV, as well as being in a football game himself, when he played for his beloved Del Rio Rams. As an avid outdoorsman, he was always ready to go hunting or fishing at a moments notice with anyone, but especially with his kids.

Elieser Hernandez Jr. graduated from Del Rio High school in 1978 and attended trade school in Harlingen, Texas, to become a certified Oxy-acetylene welder. He went on to have a distinguished career in welding, holding a variety of leadership positions and eventually opening up his own Welding business.

He is survived by his loving children Elieser Hernandez III and spouse Gladys, David Hernandez and spouse Olivia, Mark Anthony Hernandez and spouse Rebecca. And last but certainly not least, his heart of hearts, his daughter, Sarah Lee Hernandez. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Vicente, Benicio, Montserrat, Jonathan, Brandon, Gavin, Randy, Ethan, Noah, Jaxon, Ella, Gideon, Sean, Elizabeth, Kenneth, Andrea, Michael Thomas Jr. and Blake. He was preceded in death by his mother, Manuela Barrera Hernandez, daughter Amy, son Michael "Mikey", his wife Linda Renee, and grandchildren Logan, Mason, and Chloe.

A viewing will be held on Friday, March 21st, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Services will be held on Saturday, March 22nd at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Del Rio, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Elieser Hernandez Jr. will be remembered for his kind heart, his sense of humor, his ability to make people smile and his willingness to always lend a helping hand. In closing, as Dad would always say, "Life's a Garden, Dig it…Yessuh!"

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported them during this time.
