Elida A. Ortiz, age 90, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 22, 2025 in Del Rio, Texas. She was born on March 13, 1935, and raised in Del Rio, Texas. Elida was a strong and loving woman whose life was defined by devotion—to her family, her faith, and her community. A dedicated mother and a graceful homemaker, she poured her heart into creating a warm, welcoming home, where love, tradition, and faith were at the center of everyday life.
She found joy in serving others and giving back to the community she cherished. A hardworking entrepreneur, she built a successful career in the agricultural business, demonstrating perseverance, integrity, and an unwavering work ethic, which she passed on to her beloved family.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rogelio Ortiz Sr., and by her oldest daughter, Guadalupe "Lupe" Skea, both of whom she held dearly in her heart.
Her legacy continues through her surviving children: Patricia Tomaszewski (Greg), Linda Vallejo (Jose), Roy Ortiz Jr., Dora Angulo, and Robert Ortiz (Sharod).
She was blessed with many loving grandchildren: Brian Skea (Jessica), Belinda Martinez (Nick), Eric Meza (Janie), Amie Cabrera (Bo), Alex Tomaszewski, Kenneth Vallejo (Marina), Valerie Shafer, Jose Vallejo Jr., Sonny Rey Ortiz (Chante), Roy Ortiz III, Rafael Ortiz, Antonio Ortiz, Cynthia Santos (Rudy), and Jose Enrique "Ricky" Angulo Jr.
Her legacy extends further to numerous great-grandchildren, each one a reflection of the love, strength, and values she instilled in her family.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her unwavering faith, her generosity, and the profound love she shared with all who knew her. Her gentle spirit and dedication to her family will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 2020 N. Bedell Ave, Del Rio, Texas.
The visitation will continue on Friday, December 5th from 8:00 AM - 9:30 AM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, followed by the mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 509 W. Garza St, Del Rio, Texas.
The interment will follow at San Felipe Cemetery, in Del Rio, Texas.
