Beloved Veterinarian of over 45 years, Dr. Herman Lee Rathke passed from this life on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 in San Antonio, TX. "Doc" was born on June 21, 1939 in Simmons, TX. Son to the late Carl and Leota Rathke and brother to the late Perry Rathke. He is survived by his wife Catarina. He leaves his much loved daughters Roxanne (Russell), Stephany (Herb), and his son Rodney; grandchildren Nashay, Cody, Lauren, Taylor, Justin, and Meagan; along with several great-grand children. He is survived by his beloved sister, Jane; nieces, Susan (Bill) and JoAnn; along with nephew, Warren. Also left to cherish his memory are Ninamarie, Marcus, Michael (Michelle), and extended families.

Forever grateful to Claudia Sanabria, Josie Giles, Norma Gloria, Nicole Biggs, Refugio "Cuco" Perez, the late "Lily", and countless others for the loving care given to him throughout the years. To the many cherished family and friends in his life, thank you for your love, memories, and visits (Billy Zak- he treasured the hot hamburger!!).

Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, with recitation of the Rosary beginning at 6:00 PM.

Services will conclude after Visitation.

In lieu of giving flowers, donations can be made to the local AARC (Animal Advocacy Rescue Coalition) of Del Rio, in remembrance and spirit of Dr. Rathke's Love for all animals big and small.
