Dora E. Dandy, age 82, of Cibolo, TX passed on April 3, 2025, while in convalescent care in New Braunfels, TX. She was born in Camden County, NC on July 31, 1942, to the late Marion Watkins and Henrietta Bartlett Watkins.Following her graduation from Camden County High School Dora moved to Norfolk, VA to attend Cosmetology School. There she met and married her first husband, Jack Lester. Together they had two children, Jacqueline, and William Nolan. Following the dissolution of the marriage Dora returned to Camden; eventually moving to Elizabeth City, NC. It was in Elizabeth City that she met and married her second husband, Bill Dandy. Together they had one child, Wilbur. Upon marrying Bill she became a Coast Guard wife, leading to many military transfers, eventually retiring in Sequim, WA. Following Bill's passing in 1995 she moved to Kent WA. While in Kent she attended St Matthew's Lutheran Church. It was at St Matthew's she met her special friend and pew partner, Ron Dohrn. She and Ron were life partners until his passing in 2009.While being a military wife, managing multiple moves, and raising a family, Dora continued her education and became a certified nurse's aide, then later a medical technician. She worked the latter years of her career as a receptionist and secretary for a steel manufacturer in Seattle, from which she retired in 2008. In 2018 she moved to Cibolo, TX to be near her children, all who resided in Texas at the time.Dora enjoyed doing needle point, crocheting, working jigsaw puzzles, doing word and number puzzles, watching football, baseball, and Nascar racing. She especially enjoyed watching the hummingbirds, looking forward to their migration seasons.Dora is survived by her three children, Jacqui Halfaday (David) of Houston, TX, William Nolan Dandy (Alba Milena) of Schertz, TX, and Will Dandy (Sokoly) of Federal Way, WA; six grandchildren, Cortney Halfaday, Phil Dandy (Elizabeth), Alicia Dandy, Ana Dandy, Emilie Dandy, and Sayda Ngeth; two great-grandsons, Theodore Dandy, and Benjamin Dandy; two sisters, Frances Barnard, and Addie Saunders, and a brother, John Watkins; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. All of whom she loved fiercely.Dora is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 28 years William B Dandy; two brothers, JW Watkins, Sr. and Nolan Watkins; her ex-husband Jack Lester, and her pew partner, Ron Dohrn.Her wish was to be cremated and have her ashes scattered on Mt Rainier. Additionally, an urn will be interned with her late husband at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA. There will be no public service, per her wishes. An intimate family celebration on Mt Rainer is being planned.
