Domingo "Papa" C.
Reyes
Sep 17, 1949 — Dec 6, 2024
Domingo C. Reyes, aka Papa, was born on September 17, 1949, to Jose and Evangelina Reyes in San Diego, Texas. He was one of 12 children. Coming from a large family he helped work alongside his father and brothers on the ranch. In his teenage years he met the love of his life, and they married in October 1968. They had three children, Chachi, Domingo "Sonny" and Melinda. They resided in Del Rio, Texas. Sadly, in March 1987, he lost his wife to cancer and became a mother and father to his three children.
As a young man Domingo worked in ranches, then in the mid seventies he became employed at Capital Aggregates where he devoted 37 years to the company and retired in 2009. In 1998 he and his son began a hauling business called Reyes and Sons. They worked together for many rears until the day God said he needed Domingo in heaven.
Domingo lived to be 75 years, and he lived life to the fullest. He was a hardworking man; he knew no stranger. He was well known, especially for his kind heart, always going above and beyond to help anyone in need. No matter if it was money, a favor or a prayer he was there for you. In October 2022 he was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, but he didn't let that stop him. He continued working with his son to the best of his ability.
Domingo always believed in God but wasn't a very religious man until a couple of years before he became ill. He started attending a prayer group which strengthened his faith in God. He started attending Templo Bethel where he gave his life to God and got baptized.
On Friday, December 6, 2024, the Lord called Domingo to heaven. He is survived by his daughter Chachi Iglesias of Del Rio, his son Domingo "Sonny" Reyes (Marina) of Del Rio and his youngest daughter, Melinda Reyes-Rodriguez (Noel) of Brackettville. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, 5 sisters and many nephews and nieces. He is proceeded in death by his wife Elia, parents Jose and Evangelina, 1 sister and 2 brothers.
Pallbearers (Grandchildren): Ryne Reyes, Matthew Gonzalez, Nathan Reyes. Andrue Reyes, Aydin Reyes and Zachary Reyes. Honorable Pallbearers: Asher Francis, Nicholas Rodriguez, Phoenix Gonzalez, and Aaliyah Saenz.
