David C. Gonzales a lifelong resident of New Braunfels passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Northeast Baptist Hospital San Antonio at the age of 70. He was born August 22, 1947 in New Braunfels to Modesto and Jesusa Olvera Casas Gonzales. He married Dolores Aguirre on October 10, 1971 in New Braunfels. David was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Union Funebre and served as a crossing guard at Lone Star Elementary and the County Line schools. He was also a security guard at the Landa Estates. David was a devoted grandfather who enjoyed both fresh and salt water fishing. He was fond of the Astros, Spurs and the Dallas Cowboys. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his beloved wife Dolores Gonzales; daughter Monica Medina and husband Danny; sons Gabriel Gonzales and wife Jennifer, Joel Gonzales and wife Jaci; brother Hector Gonzales; grandchildren Justin Medina, Alyssa Martinez and husband Andre, Isaiah Medina, Josh Gonzales, Joseph Gonzales, Max Gonzales, Madeline Gonzales; great grandchildren Alayah Martinez and Arly Martinez; aunt and uncle Ruth Chapa and her husband Frank; numerous cousins and other relatives. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 5 PM to 9 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7 PM. The funeral procession will depart Sunset Memorial Oaks Chapel at 9:30 AM Wednesday, April 11, 2018 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church. Services will conclude after the funeral mass. A reception will follow in the church hall.
