David "El Granito de Oro" Espinoza, left us on April 6, 2026. David was born on September 24, 1958, to Julian and Melania Espinoza in Martindale, Texas.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Julian and Melania Espinoza, siblings Julian Espinoza Jr., Dora Alejos, Santos Espinoza, and Manuel Espinoza. Son-in-law Adrian Tristan Barrientos.

David is survived by his wife Mary Jane "Jeannie" Espinoza, Daughters; DeAnna Barrientos (Adrian "AB" Barrientos), Adriana Espinoza and Josie Morales (Albert), grandchildren David, Lukas, Halen, Phoenix, Gypsy, Griffen, Ryder, Adrian and Alexandra.

David began singing at just six years old, stepping onto stages across South Texas and quickly making a name for himself in talent competitions—often taking home top honors. Even then, it was clear this was only a preview of the life he was destined to live.

Music was not just a passion, but a lifelong calling. Over the years, he mastered the bajo sexto, button accordion, electric guitar, and electric bass. His range was as wide as his talent—playing delta blues, Texas blues, country and western, southern rock, rock and roll, Latin rock, and norteño. His true love, however, was estilo conjunto. Still, those who knew him knew he could play just about anything you put in front of him—and play it well. He performed on both small and large stages across Texas and recorded alongside some of the most respected artists in South Texas regional Latin music.

His work ethic was something to be admired and rarely matched. A truck driver by trade, he worked tirelessly—never afraid to go beyond what was required to provide for his family. He lived with grit, determination, and a quiet strength that spoke louder than words.

When he wasn't working or playing music, he found joy in the simple things—riding his motorcycles, casting a line out while fishing, trying his luck at the casino, and enjoying all things Chuck Norris. By his side through his last year was his loyal canine companion, Timon.

Above all, his greatest joy was his family. He was rarely far from them, and his grandchildren were truly his pride and joy. Whether it was a sport's event, performance, recital, or university graduation, Grandpa did everything he could to be there—cheering on his babies with love and pride.

Though his final performance has come to an end, the music he shared and the love he gave will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
