Obituary

" The only thing we take with us when we leave this world is the love we have shared with others". David "Richard" Dill, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle was born on June 6, 1939, in Morris Oklahoma to Harold Jay Dill and Evelyn Garrard-Dill. He passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024 in New Braunfels, Texas, at the age of 85, surrounded by the love of his family.Richard grew up in Morris, Oklahoma, and after graduating high school, worked as an auto mechanic. At the age of 19, he met the love of his life Betty Sue Griskell. They married on September 5, 1958. Richard and Betty soon moved to Imperial, Texas, where Richard began his long and dedicated career in the oil and gas industry. His job took him to Billings, Montana, Gillette, Wyoming and eventually to Laredo, Texas, where he lived and worked until he retired. Richard and Betty then moved to New Braunfels, Texas, to live out their retirement years.Richard had many joys in his life, but none more than spending time with his family. Richard's love for his family was dedicated and unwavering. He made them all feel special and very much loved. If he did not hear from his children every day or so, you can be sure he would be calling them to ask "What in the world have you been doing?".He is survived by his brothers; Mike Dill of Morris, Oklahoma, and Dale Dill of Morris, Oklahoma, his sister Janice Dill-Curtis of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, his daughter Sandra (Kevin) Jeffrey of Cedar Creek, Texas, his sons; Curtis (Leticia) Dill of Cotulla, Texas, and Scott Dill of New Braunfels, Texas, his granddaughter Kimberly Dill of Laredo, Texas, his grandsons; Christopher Paez of Kyle, Texas, and Cody Dill of Laredo, Texas, his three great grandchildren; Jakob Garza, Kaylie Garza and Colesen Dill. He is also survived by his faithful companion Mozart "Mozie", whom he adored and spoiled.Richard is preceded in death by his parents; Harold and Evelyn Dill, his sisters; Wanda Dill-Due and Tammy Dill-Aston, his brother Clifford" Don" Dill, his loving wife Betty Sue of 59 years, his daughter who made him 'daddy', Sharon Dill and his granddaughter Madelyn Dill.As we say goodbye to David Richard Dill, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by kindness, humor and an unwavering dedication to others. He will be deeply missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing him and his memory will inspire us to live with the same love and passion that he embodied every day. David Richard Dill's story is not one with an end, but a beautiful legacy that will live on in our hearts of his family and friends.Dad, Papi, Pops, you were so loved by us all we will miss you every second, every minute, every hour of every day. Thank you for being the best example of what a husband, father and grandfather should look like. You were a gentle hand that guided us through life and you will live in on our hearts and memories forever. We will honor and make you proud by trying to be the best version of the man you were.Family and friends are invited to attend a Public Visitation on Sunday, November 24th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Funeral Services on Monday, November 25th at 12:30 PM, at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and a Graveside Service to follow at 2:00 PM, at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park, New Braunfels, Texas.
