Carolyn Joyce Heep passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024 in Abilene, Texas. She was born November 10, 1935 in Crystal City, Texas and moved to Del Rio in 1936 with her parents, Opal and Claude Phillips.

Growing up in the 1950's, she enjoyed skating and was a member of the Rhythm Rollers Skating Club. Her mom, Opal, was a talented seamstress and made all her skating costumes. After graduating high school, Carolyn worked in Civil Service at Laughlin AFB from 1954-1972 and received numerous performance awards. Carolyn was employed as a sales representative for the V.H. Monette Company and ordered products for the Laughlin AFB Commissary and Base Exchange from 1982-1986. It was at Laughlin AFB where she met Eugene William Heep, Jr. - they married on January 23, 1965 and enjoyed 51 years of marriage. They were blessed with two daughters, Debbie and Sandy.

She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church and started playing piano for the second grade class at age 13. Carolyn really enjoyed working with children and started teaching children's classes retiring after 50 years. She was elected and installed as President of the South Sub-District Methodist Youth Fellowship in Rocksprings, Tx from 1957-1958 which included Del Rio, Eagle Pass, Quemado, Brackettville and Rocksprings. She was the Methodist Church coordinator for the Meals on Wheels program for many years and really enjoyed working with this program.

She was preceded in death by parents Opal and Claude Phillips, brother Claude Douglas Phillips Jr, and husband, Eugene William Heep Jr.

Carolyn loved her family and friends very much and enjoyed doing special things for them. She never forgot a birthday. She was so proud of her grandson, Benjamin, age 14, and loved listening to him play the trumpet and hearing about his sports accomplishments. She was a loving mother, sister, and grandma and great friend to those who knew her.

She is survived by her daughters Debbie Heep, Sandy Arnall and husband Larry and grandson Benjamin, brother Bobby Phillips and many beloved friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be Friday, March 15 at Sunset Memorial Oaks from 4-6 pm and a celebration of her life will be Saturday, March 16 at 10:00 am at First United Methodist Church in Del Rio.
