Obituary

Candelario Reyna, affectionately known as Ray, passed away on May 6, 2026, at the age of 92. He was born in Pharr, Texas, on February 10, 1934, to Maria Luz Valdez and Catarino Reyna. Ray lived a life service and dedication.

At 17, Ray enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving as a radio operator in the Korean War. During his military career, he attended college and served four tours in Vietnam. After 20 years of honorable service, he retired as a Master Sergeant. Ray continued his commitment to his country by working for the Veterans Administration for 31 years, processing disability claims. Throughout his two careers Ray simultaneously pursued his passion for entrepreneurship eventually retireing in Brackettville, building his 17th bar- the Alibi Lounge, then added RV park, and apartments.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Davis Reyna, and his two sons, George Reyna and Jesse Reyna.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Brackettville Sunset Funeral Home, 302 E. Spring St, Brackettville, Texas.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, Texas.
