Benito "Benny" O. Aguirre, Sr., age 77 of New Braunfels passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018. He was born April 3, 1940 in New Braunfels to Fausto Aguirre and Guadalupe Ortega Aguirre. He married Agustina Perez 53 years ago. "Benny" was a devout member of Holy Family Catholic Church where participated in the Holy Name Society, Bingo Committee, Eucharistic Ministry and assisted with many fundraising activities including the church festivals. "Benny", along with other volunteers assisted in building the grotto at Holy Family Church. He enjoyed making visits to the Basilica of La Virgen De San Juan, attended religious men's retreats including the Cursillo. "Benny" was a devoted New Braunfels Unicorn Football fan and enjoyed attending New Year's Eve dances at Holy Family Church. Benny was employed with the City of New Braunfels for 15 years before retiring. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Danny Aguirre, daughter Elisa Aguirre, brother Rosendo Aguirre and a sisters Eustolia Campos, Martina Aguirre. "Benny" is survived by his beloved wife Agustina P. Aguirre; sons Benny Aguirre, Jr. and his wife Vanessa, Ricky P. Aguirre and his wife Nelly; daughters Gloria Alvarado and husband Joe, Darlene Aguirre; brother Leandro Aguirre and wife Beatriz; sisters Pauline Diaz, Janie Granado and husband Tony, Dominga Rodriguez and husband Efrain, Pola Madrid and husband Ysmael, Dolores Juarez and husband Joe, Mary Garcia and Rosaria Cisneros; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren plus numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 5 PM to 9 PM with a rosary to be recited at 7 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Visitation continues Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 9 AM to 9:45 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 AM with Rev. Petrus Prasetyo, M.S.F, celebrant. Interment will follow in the Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Efrain Rodriguez, Ysmael Madrid, Thomas Milligan, Joe Juarez, Michael Granado, Juan Hernandez and Rick Montanez.
