Barbara Kaye Riggs Bowlin was joyfully welcomed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Mother's Day, May 12, 2024, at her beloved ranch in Carta Valley, Texas, surrounded by her loving family after a brief fight with cancer. Born on August 19, 1936, to Curtis and Marie Riggs, Barbara was raised in a loving, Christian home. As an only child, she was the light of her parents' life and they considered her their greatest achievement.

After attending Abilene Christian University, she married the love of her life, Fred M. Bowlin, on June 28, 1956, and would go on to spend nearly 68 wonderful years together, raising their family and exploring the world. She adored her sons, Ben and Brian, and often talked about how they were the pride and joy of her life.

When her grandchildren were born, her unconditional love overflowed to them, and she spent countless summers and holidays teaching them card games such as Krazy Bee (a family favorite) and puzzling. Her patience and kindness with them knew no bounds, even if some of the games got a little too competitive for her liking.

Those who knew Barbara know that her love for her family only came second to her love of God. She was a member of Brackettville Church of Christ for over 30 years and was a pillar of strength, grace, and humility among her church family. Her best friends in Carta Valley were a tremendous support and source of comfort to her in her final days. Barbara's patient spirit, unwavering faith and fierce loyalty to God will forever be remembered as an example of Christ's love to all those who loved her.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis E. Riggs and Marie Harrison Riggs, as well as her grandparents and numerous beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her loving husband, Fred M. Bowlin, of Carta Valley, Tx and her sons: Ben Bowlin (MaxAnn) of Hawley, Tx, and Brian Bowlin (Janna) of Del Rio, Tx; Grandchildren: Luke Bowlin (Angelic) of Big Springs, Tx, Cade Bowlin (Morgan Payne) of Ashton, Idaho, Brooke Bowlin Sellers (Colton) of Del Rio, Tx, and Katie Bowlin of Lubbock, Tx; Great-Grandchildren: Lexie Bowlin, Preston Bowlin and Hayden Bowlin of Big Springs, Tx; and Great-Great-Granddaughter, Londyn Bowlin of Big Springs, Tx; as well as numerous cousins and countless friends.
