Ana Maria Meza Martinez, "Anita," 88-years-old, was called to be with our Lord on Monday, May 6, 2024, in Del Rio surrounded by her family. Anita was born February 28, 1936, in El Remolino, Coahuila, Mexico to parents Esmerejildo Meza and Delfina Alcoser Meza.

Anita was a loving and kind-hearted person with an unmatched great sense of humor and Loteria Master as her great-grandson says. Simply, her family was everything to her. She was a very strong woman that faced life's challenges head on with grace and dignity. After retiring, she dedicated her life to helping raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the backbone and matriarch to our big family. Her unconditional love and helping others when she could, will be the legacy that will continue, and will be shared among all the generations in our family. She had a beautiful soul and she had tremendous impact on many lives.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents; her daughters Ana Belia and Dolores Martinez; sisters Antonia, Maria and Andrea Meza, Maria P. Rodriguez and brothers Jesus, Jose, Pablo, Pedro and Francisco Meza; honorary son, Raul Oritz and honorary grandson, Sgt. Domingo Sanchez.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters Ana Ramirez (Juan), Leticia Garza (Gregorio), Elizabeth Murrieta (Michael) and Maricela Koopmann (Alan), and her son, Eulalio Martinez, Jr. (Esmeralda). Her grandchildren: Sabrina Medrano, Gregorio Reyes, Jr. (Lori), Allizza Shaw (Clayton), Saul Ramirez (Britni), Lissette Ruiz (Chris), Ariana Ramirez, Pedro Medrano (Liz), Brenda Medrano-Ponce (Danny), Enrique Reyes (Dolores), Melinda Diaz (Christine), Krista Pate (Dylan), Erika Martinez, Brittney Koopmann, Jessica Martinez, Kari Koopmann and 24 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The pallbearers will be grandsons, Greg, Saul, Enrique; great-grandsons, Andrew Martinez and Ryan Cervantes and son-in-law, Alan. Honorary pallbearer, nephew, Isidro Avalos.

We give special thanks to our mother's nurse, Marilou Navarro, BSN, Vicenta Richter, CNA and Alisa Smith, LMSW of Paloma Hospice & Palliative Care for their compassionate care of our beloved mother and their amazing guidance to us as we cared for our mother. We are eternally grateful to you all.

The visitation will be held on Sunday, May 12, 2024 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM; recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
