Surrounded by her children and grandchildren Amelia G. Velasquez (Molly) went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 22, 2016 in Del Rio, Texas. Amelia (Molly) was born on September 2, 1929 in Melvin, Texas. Preceding her in death were her parents Catarino Garza and Faustina Gonzalez Garza, VDA de Sanchez; the father of her children Frank S. Velasquez; son Frank G. Velasquez, Jr. (Canque); infant grandson Joshua M. Velasquez; brother Alvaro Garza (Maria); sisters Juanita G. Rodriguez (Jose H.) and Dolores G. Soria (Belizario); niece Oralia P. Helss and nephew Belizario Soria, Jr. Amelia (Molly) was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and comadre. Amelia (Molly) was very proud of having graduated as valedictorian of her 8th grade class. She then went on to get married and start a family. When her youngest child went off to school. She obtained a job with Val Verde Memorial Hospital in the housekeeping department, a job she enjoyed immensely for 28 years. Upon retirement, She enjoyed attending functions at the Joe Ramos Nutrition Center along her friends. She will truly be missed by all that knew her. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Soyla Velasquez; son and daughter-in-law Sam & Ana Velasquez; daughter-in-law Sylvia M. Velasquez; brothers-in-law Hector Veliz (Maria), Ricardo Veliz (Ramona), sister-in-law Teresa Veliz Navarro; grandchildren Mona Casillas (Derek), Victoria Rodriguez (Aaron), Nicholas Velasquez, Samuel J.R. Velasquez (Michelle); great-grandchildren David, Jayden, Syann, Devyn, A.J., Erin, Alianna, Mya and Angel. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and god-children. Gentlemen with the Honor of Pallbearer will be Derek Casillas, Aaron Rodriguez, Nicholas Velasquez, Samuel J.R. Velasquez, David Garza and Mario Soria. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe G. Rodriguez, Alvaro G. Rodriguez, Pablo G. Rodriguez, Ricardo Soria, Joe Castorena, AJ Rodriguez and Angel Velasquez. Special thanks to Mr. Gerardo Jurado and Staff at the Del Rio Nursing Home, Fr. Henry Clay III from St. Joseph Catholic Church and Rev. Martin Gonzalez from Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 26, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM; Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
