Amelia
Carranza Garza
Aug 12, 1930 — Feb 5, 2024
Amelia C Garza (08-12-1930 thru 02-05-2024)
Amelia C Garza, age 93, entered into rest on February 5, 2024 in Del Rio, Texas. She was born August 12, 1930 in Del Rio, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband Juan L Garza Sr, Parents Jesus and Herminia Carranza, In-Laws Francisco and Roberta Garza, Brothers and Sisters Maria Torres, Ricardo Carranza, Alicia Avalos, and Alfredo Carranza Sr.
Our Mom was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was always there when we needed her. A life-long resident of Del Rio, Texas, she married our Dad Juan L Garza Sr on June 24, 1956. They proudly raised a family of 4 boys and lived a happy life together. They were both good role models to us.
Mom was a well-known member of the community she loved. Most knew her while she worked many years with Beall's Department Store. Thereafter, she worked many years and in different capacities with the San Felipe-Del Rio Consolidated ISD. She was well liked by the children at the different schools she worked. It was always a joy to see her smile when students would greet her with a hug.
After retiring from SFDRCISD, Mom enjoyed her time tending to her garden. You can say she was a traveling gardener as well. Whenever visiting her sons who lived out of town, she would often show up with a plant to help revive the existing garden. She was never shy about offering advice on how to make our gardens look better.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons Juan C Garza Jr and wife Hilda, David C Garza, Victor C Garza, and Louis J Garza and wife Eileen. Grandchildren Shauna R Leming, Amanda N Garza, Christopher Garza, and Marissa Garza. Great-grandchild Aiden Leming.
Gentlemen with the honor of Pallbearers are Christopher Garza, Joshua Leming, Aiden Leming, Alfredo Carranza Jr, Jose Lara, and Pablo Ramos.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024, 4:00pm to 8:00pm, at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be that same day at 6:30pm.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, 10:00am, at St Joseph Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Westlawn Cemetery.
