"Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly…" -proverb Amalia "Mollie "Gonzalez Forehand, age 88, peacefully went to rest with our Lord on Monday, January 21, 2019 at VVRMC in Del Rio. She was born on September 4, 1930 in Del Rio, TX, to the late Honorable County Judge Sergio & Ninfa (Ramirez) Gonzalez. Through all of her health struggles, her Faith in the Lord never wavered. The evening before her final rest, she prayed the rosary surrounded by her family and friends. Her selfless generosity and willingness to give unconditionally to others was second nature to her. Mollie found peace spending time in her garden and tending to her beautiful plants. One of her most gratifying achievements was being deemed "Mother Earth." Mollie truly lived life to the fullest through her vibrant personality. She was loved by her family and friends, especially her children, grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Murray Forehand and son the late Honorable Judge Joey Gonzalez; her parents the late Honorable County Judge Sergio and Ninfa (Ramirez) Gonzalez; brothers, Jose Gonzalez and Jose R. "Chepo" Gonzalez (Clarita); sisters, Lupita Mireles (Alfredo); Carolina Guzman (Ricardo); Maria del Carmen Hernandez (Hernando). Left to cherish her memory are her children, Rosie Phillips (Larry); Oscar Gonzalez Jr. (Irma) and daughter-in-law Martha Gonzalez. Grandchildren, Maria Cecilia Tapia (Felipe), Joey Gonzales (Joelee), Sandra Gonzalez, Carolina Gonzalez, Jose Sergio Gonzalez, Maria Azalea Gonzalez (Tito Lozano), Nolberto "Beto" Frausto III (Vicki), Roy Hurley (Kerith), Becky Pendergrass (John), John Oldham (Tanya), Jana Davis (Marty), Lacy Finley, Melinda Alford (Gary), Oscar Shane Gonzalez (Cheryl), Amber Allen (Jack) and Christian Ryan Hernandez as well as, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her beloved sister and best friend, who never left her side, Jennie G. Owens (Bob Clubb Sanchez). We would like to thank her loving caregivers: Eloisa Henderson, Susana Hernandez and Maria Esther Gonzalez. Her precious pet and companion – Babydoll Mollie's grandsons hold the honor of being Pall Bearers: Beto Frausto, John Oldham, Joey Gonzales, Jose Sergio Gonzalez, Roy Hurley, Shane Gonzalez, and Christian Ryan Hernandez. Honorary Pallbearers: Bob Clubb Sanchez, Joe Ramirez, Danny Ramirez, Armando Ramirez, Freddy Ramirez, Mario Ramirez, Larry Cardenas and Deacon Mark Escobar. We would like to thank Val Verde Regional Medical Center staff for their compassion and care, especially 4th station. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019, 5:00pm- 9:00pm at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019, 10:00am at St Joseph Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
