Our beloved mother, Raquel Tovar, gained her angels wings on March 11, 2021. She was born on March 22, 1934, in Del Rio, Texas. She was preceded in the road to glory by her husband Raul Tovar, sons, Raul Tovar Jr., Roberto Tovar and Rafael Tovar, her mother Luisa Rivas, father Juan Garcia, sisters and brothers Abdenago Rivas, Esperanza Rivas, Caridad Rivas, Arturo Rivas, Daniel Rivas and Raul Rivas. Surviving her and waiting in the wings to be with her again are her daughters, Mary Lou Chavira and husband, Ricardo Chavira, Yolanda Hernandez, and husband, Agustin S. Hernandez and her brother, Dan Garcia and wife Florine Garcia. Grandchildren Rick Chavira, Rene Chavira, Andrea Chavira, Ryan Chavira, Agustin Hernandez III, Nicolas Hernandez, Israel Hernandez, Raul Hernandez, Rachel Lee Tovar, Roberto Tovar Jr, and Sabrina Tovar, as well as numerous great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Our mother was a follower of Christ and a lifelong member of Primera Iglesia Bautista, serving as a Sunday School teacher and an avid member of the choir and prayer groups. She retired from Lamar Elementary, having served as a school secretary many years and loved her little ones. She volunteered for hospice for many years and was helpful to all the families served. She was very proud of being a San Felipe High School Class of 1952 member and treasured her time with her classmates. We will miss her dearly and hope to one day join her and all our loved ones. We have wonderful memories of the life she led loving on all of us and cooking her great meals. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 15, 2021, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Chapel service will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Gentlemen with the Honor of Pallbearers will be her Grandsons, Rick Chavira, Agustin Hernandez III, Rene Adrian Chavira, Nicolas Hernandez, Ryan Chavira, Israel Hernandez, and Raul Hernandez. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
