Pedro P. Bernal age 78 born December 4, 1942 to Sotero and San Juana Bernal in San Diego Texas, and married to Barbara S. Bernal went to join his daughter Melissa in heaven on March 14, 2021. Pedro led his life as a servant of God and his country. He retired as a MSGT in the United States Air Force after 22 years of service, then continued his civil service at Laughlin AFB as a telecommunication specialist for another 21 years. Throughout his lifetime he was a devoted father of four who played an active part in raising his children. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus where he became a 4th degree Knight and even served as Grand Knight. Once his children were grown, he took a more active role in his parish St. Joseph Catholic Church where he participated in several ministries such as Parish Council, The Men's Club, ACTS, That Man is You, and Jail Ministry. He also taught Baptismal classes, and with his wife, Barbara, of almost 60 years, helped sponsor couples preparing for the sacrament of marriage. He proudly served God and his community in these ministries which brought him great joy, during which he continued to be a role model for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was always a part of their lives whether it was babysitting, attending extracurricular events, or milestones in their lives. He always made himself available to his children, grandchildren, or friends for a conversation, advice, or to offer his words of wisdom. Pedro and his loving wife Barbara were blessed with many friends and a large family left to cherish his memory. His family consisted of 4 children: Cynthia (Michael)Kawejsza, Danny (Cathy) Bernal, Anna Lisa (Richard) Hernandez, and Melissa Martinez(deceased); 12 Grandchildren: Jesse (Roxanne) Arcos, Michelle (Richard) Perez, Vanessa (Alan) Diltz, Christopher (Emily) Martinez, Marco (Ernest) Martinez, Jon Michael (Brittney) Bernal, Tyler Joseph, Shelby and Maddie Kawejsza, Arik Matthew and Paul Hernandez and Laura Bernal; 10 Great Grandchildren: Cinco and Jacob Arcos, Mackenzie Perez, Olivia and Mia Diltz, Easton Delgado, Calvin Martinez, Zayden Morris, Arrelina and Jon Michael Jr. Bernal. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM; recitation of the holy rosary at 6:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 a 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be at The Coastal Bend State Veteran's Cemetery in Corpus Christi Texas with full Military Honors, at a later date. Per his wishes in lieu of flowers donations to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated.
