It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend Maria Castorena De Hoyos. Mrs. De Hoyos was called home by the Lord on Monday, April 6, 2009. �"Maríta"� was the heart of the family, she was a lady of strong faith, and had great love for family and friends. One of her biggest passions was cooking, and you could always find her in her kitchen making tamales, dulces, chorizo, fruitcakes, empanadas, bu�uelos and cookies. Mrs. De Hoyos was a supporter of the San Felipe Mustangs and her home was often decorated in purple and gold in the spirit of San Felipe. Gardening was also a love of hers as evidenced by all the beautiful flowers in her front yard. Maria was preceded in death by her parents Luis and Brigida Castorena, her husband Ramon De Hoyos, son Pedro, three brothers and one sister. Left to treasure her memories are her children: Sylvia (Don) Cullum of San Antonio, Lupe (Jessie) De Hoyos of Del Rio, Rachel (Ernie) Draeger of San Antonio, Ramon (Linda) De Hoyos of San Antonio, Sobeida (Jack) Butchko of Costa Mesa, CA., Linda (Manuel) Polanco of Del Rio, Rosemary (Dr. Marshall) Wallace of Thorton, TX; nineteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren. The De Hoyos family will be receiving family and friends on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 from 5 "� 9 pm, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7pm at Sunset Memorial Oaks. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 10am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, interment to follow at San Felipe Cemetery.
