José Luis Medina went to be with our Lord on May 14, 2019 in Uvalde, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents Tomas Medina and Antonia Becerra Medina and by his step father Simon Flores. He is also preceded in death by his sisters Lela Cervantez and Carmen Gallegos. Surviving him is the love of his life, his wife of 57 years, Letty Medina. He is also survived by his daughter, Brenda Pe�a, son in law Ray Pe�a, Jr., grandchildren Alyssa Chapoy and Benjamin Chapoy, his brother Rene Flores and his sister Candy Gonzalez. José Luis was a retired veteran who proudly served in the United States Army for 22 years. His love for God, Country and family never wavered. Upon retirement, from the military, he worked for the Juvenile Detention Center here in Del Río. He enjoyed working with the youth of Del Río. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM; Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Pallbearers are Alyssa Chapoy, Philip Pena, Jimmy Chapoy, Mike Cervantez, Ruben Cervantez, and Jason Garcia; Honorary Pallbearer is Benjamin Chapoy Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery; Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard and the American Legion Post #595.
