Jose Luis Flores, age 87, entered into rest on Saturday, January 7, 2017 in Del Rio, Texas. He was born on January 2, 1930 in Morelos, Coah., Mexico. He was preceded in death by his wife Leonor Flores Moreno. Parents Jose Maria Flores Gutierrez and Loreto Gutierrez. Son in law Jose Manuel Ramon. Jose Luis Flores and Leonor Flores met in Ciudad Acu�a and were married for 61 years. As a young person, he was a boxer and a wrestler, who also worked at El Crosby in Ciudad Acu�a, Mexico. Mr. Flores worked many years for Heinz Corp. in Muscatine, Iowa where he finally retired then moved back to Del Rio, Texas to enjoy his retirement. He enjoyed his retirement years traveling to Las Vegas and New Orleans. Mr. Flores never gave up the chance for a family adventure, especially when it involved traveling to spend quality time with his children who reside across Texas and Iowa. He enjoyed his plants, the outdoors, especially fishing with his sons and grandchildren. He also enjoyed his beloved dogs, Snoopy and Rocky. Jose Flores was a current resident at La Vida Serena and the family would like to sincerely thank all the staff members for their professional and unconditional compassion they expressed towards Mr. Flores. In addition, the family would like to thank all his medical doctors from Del Rio, Texas. His passing leaves family and friends but we celebrate and rejoice in the countless wonderful memories of him. He will be dearly missed. Left to cherish his memory are his children Yolanda Ramon, Rosie Pi�a (Aurelio), Jose Homero Flores (Guadalupe), Hector Flores (Blanca), Aracely Flores (Gabriel Cardenas), Alvaro Flores, Mario Alberto Flores (Vickie Neipert Flores), Elizabeth Jimenez (Estevan), Guillermo Flores and Fiance Vanessa Gonzalez. 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 13, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St Joseph Catholic Church. Gentlemen with the honor of pallbearers; Guillermo Flores, Joey Flores, Gabriel Cardenas, Steven Jimenez, Sr., Steven Jimenez, Jr., Victor Roman. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
